LLM language models are already widely used in consulting services, including intellectual property (IP) valuation. The pursuit of increased efficiency and cost optimisation is driving the implementation of AI agents in consultants’ work. It also includes company procedures. A draft amendment to the International Valuation Standards (IVS 2028) is currently under public consultation.
“Human-in-the-loop”
The IVSC (International Valuation Standards Committee) advocates for full transparency in the scope and method of AI use. AI agent technology can quickly acquire and analyse data, perform calculations in financial models, and generate a final report.
Thus, we can fully automate the process, yet we require a “human” expert with unquestionable professional qualifications and experience. A human expert in the decision-making loop acts as a consultant to the network of connected AI agents, a verifier of their work results, and the final decision-maker.
Consulting corporations must find new ways to train experts. It is difficult to place a recent graduate from even a highly regarded university in a professional role. The same as a human agent who will be an effective partner for AI agents. Much less a person making substantive decisions. Even with the intensification of the educational process, true knowledge will develop in the fire of hundreds of personally analysed cases, successes and failures.
Small is still beautiful
In my opinion, as AI agent applications develop, freelancers’ competitiveness across many fields will only increase.
I remember when the introduction of algorithmic methods in stock market investing sparked concerns that small retail investors would no longer find investment opportunities. Initially, there were mishaps when the algorithms executed transactions in a flurry, leading to a sharp price collapse. Later, creators refined the algorithms, but we are still far from meeting the criteria for an efficient market.
Now, armies of AI agents have entered the game. Popular investment services offer a diverse range of such services. AI-generated lists of investment proposals are a popular service. Does this mean that small retail investors will soon lose the ability to identify profitable speculations?
