The complexity of calculating property losses in business is similar to analyzing a system with multiple degrees of freedom.
The defendant’s attorneys, above all else, always challenge the existence of a causal link between the tort and the property damages. When the plaintiff’s attorney manages to establish a high likelihood of the former, the extent of the damage (including the method of calculation and data reliability) is strongly contested.
