TP Black Box – a new SCCT initiative

The SCCT 2026 conference has concluded. Our association is guided by the motto “Professionals for Professionals,” and in this spirit, we create a space for the exchange of knowledge grounded in experience.

This year, we decided to create a practical, open-source toolkit for all SCCT members interested in the subject.

I led this initiative, and my contribution involved developing and deploying the AP_SYM application—a VBA-based tool compatible with MS Office 365 on both Windows and macOS.

The application is flexible, enabling the use of the Monte Carlo method to process virtually any financial model, without being restricted to specific transfer pricing methodologies or valuation techniques.

My aim was to eliminate the need to purchase expensive commercial licenses, thereby creating development opportunities for individuals (as companies already have the funds for such things).

Leveraging my expertise, I am developing financial modeling capabilities focused on valuation methods for equity instruments and intellectual property assets. I invite all SCCT members to collaborate on this initiative.

The goal is to collectively build a comprehensive toolkit for professionals. An open-source license should largely safeguard against the temptation to commercialize the code developed through this joint effort.

Initially, we will host free webinars for interested SCCT members to help them use the AP_SYM application. Once we have aligned our skill sets, we will proceed by working in specialized teams. As always, success depends on enthusiasm and competence.

Those interested in participating in this program are asked to notify the SCCT board via email.
